Hi everyone! Today I will be going over how to give yourself a facial right in the comfort of your own home! Since I’ve been out of town this last week, I decided to give myself a facial the day after I got home. Traveling can really dehydrate your skin and make you break out, especially if you’ve been on a plane with all of the germs and who knows what flying around in the air. Your skin gets used to the climate you’re in on a daily basis, so taking it out of it’s comfort zone can really have a bad affect on it. That’s why I always give myself a deep cleansing facial after I’ve been traveling. It helps my skin to get back to normal and it prevents break outs!
Professional facials can also be very expensive. I love to get them as often as I can, but since I’ve been doing these steps myself, I haven’t felt the need to go as often. I usually try and do this at least once a month.
***All of the products I use are linked at the very bottom of this post, except for my favorite toner, which I will link here.
Step 1: Cleanse
You’ll want to start off by removing any makeup you have on, then cleanse your skin with your favorite cleanser. My favorite is shown in the pic above. When I cleanse my skin, I always go in with the Clarisonic because it gives a much deeper clean than your fingers can give. If you don’t have one, that’s okay! Just cleanse your skin with your fingers, as normal.
Step 2: Exfoliate
After you’ve cleansed your skin, you will want to exfoliate to get rid of any dead skin cells. I love this one from Aveda because it’s gentle and your skin feels sooo soft after.
Step 3: Steam
This is my favorite step of a facial! It not only feels amazing, but it opens up your pores and cleanses your skin of bacteria and dirt that is hiding deep in your pores. If you don’t have a steamer, you can just soak a face towel in really hot water and press that over your face a few times. However, if you can invest in one, you won’t regret it!
Step 4: Mask
After your skin is super squeaky clean, you’ll want to use a mask of your choice. My favorite is the Supermud Clearing Treatment by GlamGlow. I find that this mask really pulls out all of the impurities in my skin and keeps it free of blemishes. I would also recommend using a small foundation brush to apply the mask. It really helps to spread the product evenly across your face, and you won’t waste as much product.
Step 5: Tone
After you have rinsed your mask off and dried your face with a clean towel, spray a toner all over your face and let it sink into your skin. I can’t live without my Eau Roma Water from Lush. It keeps my skin hydrated and it’s so refreshing!
Step 6: Moisturize
You’re almost done! After you tone your skin, moisturize with your favorite eye cream and moisturizer. I would also recommend using a face oil after your moisturizer as your final step. Face oils reduce wrinkles, shrink pores, moisturize, and protect your skin. I currently use the Josie Maran Argan Oil, which I love, but after this bottle is done, I will probably venture out and try some others. Suggestions are welcomed!
Well guys, that’s it. I know this seems like a lot of steps and a lot of products….but that’s because it is! Yes, it’s a longer process, but an at-home facial is something you should enjoy doing for yourself. I love staying home on a Friday or Saturday night and doing this for myself. It’s super relaxing and really helps to relieve stress. Plus, it’s really great for your skin and in my opinion, is absolutely necessary if you want clear, radiant skin.
I hope y’all enjoyed this post!
